Our verdict
This page is a correction, and we would rather publish it prominently than quietly delete the old one. Genesis Casino does not operate. Genesis Global Limited wound up its Malta business on 23 December 2022 with more than 140 redundancies, the Malta Gaming Authority suspended its licence on 16 January 2023 because an insolvent company cannot lawfully offer gambling, and the licence was subsequently cancelled. No Genesis domain is on the UK register. Before that, the Gambling Commission had suspended its British licence in 2020 and fined it GBP 3.8 million in January 2022 for letting a customer lose GBP 600,000 without adequate source-of-funds checks and letting an NHS nurse on GBP 30,000 a year spend GBP 245,000 in three months. Our previous review of this casino said no major documented scandal had been found and gave it 6.5 out of 10. That review rested on one source: the casino's own website. We have withdrawn its offers in Great Britain, Canada and Denmark. The one thing that worked was regulation - segregated player balances meant customers could withdraw when the business failed. If you see this brand advertised today, it is not them.
How we rated it
Payments & payouts (20%)2.5
There is nothing to pay out from - the company ceased trading. The one positive on record is that MGA rules kept player balances segregated from operating funds, so customers were able to withdraw when it collapsed.
Casino & games (20%)2
Whatever the lobby once offered is moot: this is not a licensed, operating casino. Anything trading under this name today is not this operator.
Trust & licensing (50%)1
The operator is insolvent. Genesis Global wound up in December 2022, the MGA suspended its licence in January 2023 and later cancelled it, and no Genesis domain appears on the UK register. Before that it was fined GBP 3.8m by the Gambling Commission over AML and social-responsibility failures.
Bonuses & value (10%)1
All offers withdrawn. The 100% plus 300 Starburst spins package we previously listed for Great Britain, Canada and Denmark cannot be claimed from an insolvent, unlicensed operator.

Genesis Casino FAQ
Is Genesis Casino still operating?
No. Genesis Global Limited wound up its Malta operations on 23 December 2022, laying off more than 140 staff, and the Malta Gaming Authority suspended its licence from 16 January 2023 because an insolvent company cannot offer gambling services. The licence was later cancelled. No Genesis domain appears on the UK Gambling Commission's register either.
I have money in an account - can I get it back?
When the company collapsed, players were able to withdraw, because MGA rules require customer balances to be held in a bank account separate from the operator's day-to-day funds so that administrators cannot use them to pay creditors. That protection worked here. If you still believe you hold a balance, contact the Malta Gaming Authority rather than any site currently using the Genesis name.
What was the GBP 3.8 million fine for?
Anti-money-laundering and social-responsibility failures. The Gambling Commission found that one customer had been allowed to deposit over GBP 1,300,000 and lose GBP 600,000 before adequate source-of-funds checks, and that another spent GBP 245,000 in three months while Genesis knew, from three days into the relationship, that they were an NHS nurse earning GBP 30,000 a year. The fine came with a warning and an additional licence condition requiring further auditing.
Why did your earlier review say there was no scandal?
Because it was built on a single source - the casino's own website - and we published a 6.5 rating on that basis. It was wrong, and this page is the correction. It is also why every review on this site now carries a research-depth notice telling you when it rests on one source, so you can weigh a rating instead of taking it on trust.
What about sites advertising Genesis Casino bonuses now?
They are not this operator. Genesis Global is insolvent and unlicensed, so any current 'Genesis Casino' welcome offer is coming from something else using the name. Do not deposit with it.
