Oyawin welcome bonus in Nigeria

Context for Nigeria: Nigeria changed who licenses betting, and the old answer is still the one most sites give you. On 22 November 2024 the Supreme Court nullified the National Lottery Act 2005 in its entirety, holding that the National Assembly had no constitutional power to legislate on lotteries and games of chance - these are residual matters belonging to the STATES. The practical consequence is that the National Lottery Regulatory Commission is no longer the nationwide authority: its remit is now limited to the Federal Capital Territory, and an NLRC licence issued before the ruling is not a valid basis for multi-state operation. So if an operator's footer, or an affiliate page, offers 'NLRC licensed' as proof it is legal where you live, that assurance is out of date. What counts now is a licence from YOUR state's gaming regulator, or a Universal Reciprocity Certificate from the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria (FSGRN) - and the URC only covers FSGRN member states, of which there are around 22, so a significant number of states sit outside it entirely. Betting itself remains legal in Nigeria; it is the paperwork that moved. Some legal uncertainty is still unresolved, including what regularisation means for operators licensed under the old federal regime, so check your own state's regulator before you treat any licence claim as settled.

Nigeria changed who licenses betting in November 2024

On 22 November 2024 the Supreme Court of Nigeria, in Attorney General of Lagos State & Ors v Attorney General of the Federation & Ors (Suit No. SC/1/2008), unanimously nullified the National Lottery Act 2005. A seven-member panel held that the National Assembly had no power to legislate on lotteries and games of chance, so the Act - and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission it created - now applies only within the Federal Capital Territory. Regulating betting elsewhere in Nigeria is exclusively a matter for state governments.

What that means when you read any Nigerian review, including ours: an NLRC licence number no longer establishes, on its own, that an operator is authorised in your state. Many of our Nigerian pages still describe licensing in NLRC terms because that was the framework when they were written, and we are working through them. Check your own state regulator's list - for example the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority - before you deposit.

Pros

  • A named Nigerian operating company, Parier Nigeria Limited, with a specific stated licence period
  • Freebet up to NGN 50,000 on a minimum deposit of just NGN 100
  • Publishes real responsible-gaming tools - self-exclusion from six months to permanent, plus time and deposit limits

Cons

  • The licence is self-declared: no entry on the Lagos LSLGA list or the FCT LRO register, and the NLRC's own site does not resolve for us
  • A federal licence has covered only the Federal Capital Territory since the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024
  • Freebet wagering and expiry terms are not published anywhere we could find
  • Almost no independent coverage of the brand exists to judge it by
  • Nigeria only

Our verdict

Oyawin is run by Parier Nigeria Limited, and the brand states on its own responsible-gaming page that it holds a gaming licence valid from 15 November 2022 to 14 November 2027. It offers a freebet welcome bonus of up to NGN 50,000 on a minimum deposit of only NGN 100, and it publishes real responsible-gaming controls: self-exclusion from six months up to permanent, alongside time and financial limits. We are reporting that licence rather than confirming it, and the distinction is the point of this page. Oyawin and Parier Nigeria Limited appear on neither the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority's published operator list nor the FCT Lottery Regulation Office's approved-operator register, both of which we read on the same day. The federal NLRC's own site does not resolve in DNS for us, so we could not check the register the licence is said to come from. The dates matter more than they first appear. A licence issued in November 2022 spans the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024, which struck down the National Lottery Act's application to the states. Since then a federal licence speaks only for the Federal Capital Territory, and each of the 36 states licenses for itself. So a 2022-2027 federal licence does not by itself tell a reader in Lagos or Rivers that Oyawin is authorised where they live - and the FCT register, the one place it would still carry weight, does not list the brand. None of this is an accusation. It is the boundary of what we could establish, stated plainly. One practical point though: we could not find the freebet's wagering requirement or expiry published anywhere, so read those terms on the site before you deposit rather than after.

How we rated it

Bonuses & value (18%)7

A real freebet up to NGN 50,000 on a very low NGN 100 minimum deposit, which is an accessible entry. Trimmed from 7.5 because we still could not find the freebet's wagering or expiry terms anywhere, and a freebet whose conditions you cannot read before depositing is worth less than its headline.

Sportsbook (36%)6.8

A Nigeria-facing sportsbook operator.

Customer support (18%)6.8

We found no documented complaint pattern, but we also found no substantial independent coverage of this brand at all, so this is thin evidence rather than a clean bill of health.

Trust & licensing (27%)6.2

Better than the placeholder it replaces: there is a named operating company, Parier Nigeria Limited, and a specific licence period, 15 November 2022 to 14 November 2027. Both come from the operator's own site. Held low because no regulator we can read confirms them - the brand is absent from the Lagos LSLGA list and the FCT LRO register, and the federal NLRC's own domain does not resolve for us.

How we verified this

The licence claim is taken from the operator's own site and labelled as such. We then checked it against the two Nigerian regulator registers we can actually read - Lagos LSLGA and the FCT LRO - and report the absence of an entry as a gap in verification, not as evidence of wrongdoing. The federal register's own domain does not resolve for us and we say so rather than implying we checked it.

About Oyawin

Oyawin is a Nigerian sportsbook run by Parier Nigeria Limited, which states on its own responsible-gaming page that it holds a gaming licence valid from 15 November 2022 to 14 November 2027. We report that rather than confirm it: the brand appears on neither the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority's published list nor the FCT Lottery Regulation Office register, both read the same day, and the federal NLRC's own site does not resolve for us. The dates matter more than they look, because a 2022 licence spans the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024 that struck down the National Lottery Act's application to the states - since then a federal licence speaks only for the Federal Capital Territory. The welcome freebet is up to NGN 50,000 on a NGN 100 minimum deposit, but we could not find its wagering or expiry published anywhere.

Oyawin FAQ

Is Oyawin safe and legit?

Oyawin is operated by Parier Nigeria Limited, which states on its own site that it holds a gaming licence valid from 15 November 2022 to 14 November 2027. We could not verify that: the brand is on neither the Lagos LSLGA list nor the FCT LRO register, and the federal NLRC's own site does not resolve for us. That is a gap in our verification rather than a finding against the operator - but note that since November 2024 a federal licence covers only the Federal Capital Territory.

What is the Oyawin welcome bonus?

A freebet of up to NGN 50,000 with a minimum deposit of NGN 100. We could not find the freebet's wagering requirement or expiry published anywhere, so read those terms on the site before depositing.
