A Nigerian bookmaker whose licensing basis and bonus size we could not pin down

Context for Nigeria: Nigeria changed who licenses betting, and the old answer is still the one most sites give you. On 22 November 2024 the Supreme Court nullified the National Lottery Act 2005 in its entirety, holding that the National Assembly had no constitutional power to legislate on lotteries and games of chance - these are residual matters belonging to the STATES. The practical consequence is that the National Lottery Regulatory Commission is no longer the nationwide authority: its remit is now limited to the Federal Capital Territory, and an NLRC licence issued before the ruling is not a valid basis for multi-state operation. So if an operator's footer, or an affiliate page, offers 'NLRC licensed' as proof it is legal where you live, that assurance is out of date. What counts now is a licence from YOUR state's gaming regulator, or a Universal Reciprocity Certificate from the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria (FSGRN) - and the URC only covers FSGRN member states, of which there are around 22, so a significant number of states sit outside it entirely. Betting itself remains legal in Nigeria; it is the paperwork that moved. Some legal uncertainty is still unresolved, including what regularisation means for operators licensed under the old federal regime, so check your own state's regulator before you treat any licence claim as settled.

Nigeria changed who licenses betting in November 2024
On 22 November 2024 the Supreme Court of Nigeria, in Attorney General of Lagos State & Ors v Attorney General of the Federation & Ors (Suit No. SC/1/2008), unanimously nullified the National Lottery Act 2005. A seven-member panel held that the National Assembly had no power to legislate on lotteries and games of chance, so the Act - and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission it created - now applies only within the Federal Capital Territory. Regulating betting elsewhere in Nigeria is exclusively a matter for state governments.
What that means when you read any Nigerian review, including ours: an NLRC licence number no longer establishes, on its own, that an operator is authorised in your state. Many of our Nigerian pages still describe licensing in NLRC terms because that was the framework when they were written, and we are working through them. Check your own state regulator's list - for example the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority - before you deposit.
Pros
- FCT Lottery Regulation Office lists it as RUNNING for sports betting, valid to 23 May 2027
- A real Nigerian operator trading since 2022 under a named company
- Nigerian review sites report responsive customer support channels
- Large advertised welcome offer, whichever version turns out to be current
Cons
- Sources contradict each other on the welcome offer: 200% to NGN 100,000 versus 500% over four deposits to NGN 50,000
- Reported NLRC licence 0001058 could not be verified at the regulator
- The operator's own site returns 403 to us, so nothing could be checked at source
- Not listed by the Lagos state regulator - the authorisation we could verify is the FCT one
Our verdict
CORRECTION, made the same day we published the original. This page previously said we could not establish what authorises YangaSport to operate. We can: the FCT Lottery Regulation Office's approved-operator list shows YANGA GAMES TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED trading as YANGASPORT, sports betting, status RUNNING, valid to 23 May 2027. The gap was in our research rather than the operator's paperwork - we had checked the Lagos state list and an affiliate-reported NLRC number and stopped there, without opening the FCT register that still carries federal authority after the November 2024 judgment. The offer does not reconcile. We published 200% up to NGN 100,000 at 6x wagering over 14 days. Other Nigerian sources describe 200% across the first and second deposits, and several describe something else entirely: 500% spread over four deposits, capped at NGN 50,000, from a NGN 500 minimum. Those cannot all be current, and yangasport.com returns 403 to us, so we could not settle it at the operator. The licensing question matters more. Affiliate sources report NLRC licence number 0001058, held by Yanga Games Technologies Limited, trading since 2022 from a Lagos office. We could not verify that number at the regulator. And Nigeria's licensing map changed: since a Supreme Court judgment in November 2024, the NLRC's authority runs only to the Federal Capital Territory, with individual states licensing operators in their own territory. YangaSport does not appear on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority's published list of licensed operators - a list that does name Bet9ja, Betano and SportyBet. To be clear about what that is and is not: it is NOT evidence the operator is unlicensed. It may hold a licence in another Nigerian state, or operate on its NLRC permit within the FCT. It IS a gap we could not close, and on a site that asks you to deposit money, an unclear licensing basis belongs on the page rather than behind a confident score.
How we rated it
Trust & licensing (27%)7.6
Confirmed at a regulator: the FCT Lottery Regulation Office lists Yanga Games Technologies Limited / YangaSport as RUNNING for sports betting, valid to 23 May 2027. Our earlier doubt came from checking only the Lagos list and an affiliate-reported NLRC number. Not higher because the operator's own site returns 403 to us and its advertised offer still cannot be pinned down.
Sportsbook (36%)7.3
A real Nigerian sportsbook trading since 2022 under Yanga Games Technologies Limited, but we verified little about the product beyond affiliate description - the operator's own site returns 403 to us.
Bonuses & value (18%)6.8
Cut from 9.0, which was the highest bonus score on this site and rested on a single affiliate page. Sources do not agree on what the offer even is: 200% up to NGN 100,000 at 6x by one account, 200% across two deposits by another, and 500% across four deposits up to NGN 50,000 by several more. An offer we cannot pin down cannot be scored as exceptional.
Customer support (18%)6.8
Nigerian review sites praise the support channels, but that is affiliate description rather than evidence, and the previous 7.5 rested on no search. We found no complaint dossier either.

| Lagos list | Not listed by the Lagos regulator; the FCT authorisation is what we could verify |
How we verified this
Checked the Lagos regulator's own published operator list rather than relying on affiliate assurances that the site is 'perfectly legit'. Where absence from one state list is not proof of anything, we say so explicitly instead of converting a gap in our knowledge into an accusation.

About YangaSport
YangaSport is a Nigerian sportsbook, and its authorisation is confirmed at a regulator: the FCT Lottery Regulation Office lists Yanga Games Technologies Limited trading as YangaSport for sports betting, status RUNNING, valid to 23 May 2027. An earlier version of this page said we could not establish what authorises it to operate - that was a gap in our research, not in the operator's paperwork. We had checked the Lagos state list and an affiliate-reported NLRC number and stopped there, without opening the FCT register, which is precisely the one that still carries federal authority after the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024. It is not on the Lagos list. One criticism stands unchanged: its advertised bonus figures remain contradictory across sources, and the operator's own site returns 403 to us.
YangaSport FAQ
Is YangaSport safe and legit?
Yes, at least in the Federal Capital Territory: the FCT Lottery Regulation Office lists Yanga Games Technologies Limited trading as YangaSport with status RUNNING, valid to 23 May 2027. It is not on the Lagos state list. An earlier version of this page said we could not establish its licensing at all; that was our gap, and we have corrected it.
What is the YangaSport welcome bonus?
We cannot state it with confidence. One source describes 200% up to NGN 100,000 at 6x over 14 days; others describe 200% across two deposits, and several describe 500% across four deposits capped at NGN 50,000 from a NGN 500 minimum. The operator's own site returns 403 to us, so check the terms there before depositing.
