Licensed betting & casino sites in Spain

Reference · Last updated: 2026-07-13

Spain has one of Europe's tightest-controlled online gambling markets. Only operators licensed by the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) may legally offer betting or casino play to residents — and every legal site runs on a .es domain and appears on the DGOJ's official public register. This page shows you how to verify any operator yourself in under a minute.

The one-line test: if a gambling site aimed at Spanish players uses a .com (not .es) and you can't find it on the DGOJ register, it is not licensed in Spain — no matter how big the bonus looks.

How to check a Spanish operator's licence (60 seconds)

  1. Check the domain ends in .es. Legal operators must serve Spanish players from a .es address (e.g. operador.es). A .com targeting Spain is a red flag.
  2. Search the official DGOJ register. Open the DGOJ operator search and look up the brand or company name — see the official link below. It lists the company name, NIF, authorized .es domain, licence type and current status.
  3. Confirm the status is active and the licence covers the activity (betting «apuestas», casino, poker, bingo). Cross-check the company name against the site's footer/terms.
  4. Check the RGIAJ / self-exclusion notice. Licensed operators must honour Spain's national self-exclusion registry (RGIAJ) and show responsible-gambling tools.

Why the .es rule matters

Many global brands you'll see advertised run both an international .com and a separate Spanish .es site. Only the .es version, tied to a DGOJ licence, is legal for residents in Spain — with Spanish consumer protections, dispute channels and the RGIAJ self-exclusion system. The .com version may look identical but sits outside Spanish law and offers you none of those protections.

Once you've confirmed the licence

A licence makes an operator legal, not automatically good value. Use our free Bonus Value Calculator to score any welcome offer by what it's really worth after wagering, and read how wagering (rollover) works and the bonus red-flags checklist before you claim. For the general method, see how to check any casino's licence.

Gambling is legal in Spain only through DGOJ-licensed operators, and only for adults 18+. A licence protects your money; deciding your limits protects you. You can self-exclude nationally through the RGIAJ. Gamble responsibly · get help & set limits.
