Betjara welcome bonus in Nigeria

Context for Nigeria: Nigeria changed who licenses betting, and the old answer is still the one most sites give you. On 22 November 2024 the Supreme Court nullified the National Lottery Act 2005 in its entirety, holding that the National Assembly had no constitutional power to legislate on lotteries and games of chance - these are residual matters belonging to the STATES. The practical consequence is that the National Lottery Regulatory Commission is no longer the nationwide authority: its remit is now limited to the Federal Capital Territory, and an NLRC licence issued before the ruling is not a valid basis for multi-state operation. So if an operator's footer, or an affiliate page, offers 'NLRC licensed' as proof it is legal where you live, that assurance is out of date. What counts now is a licence from YOUR state's gaming regulator, or a Universal Reciprocity Certificate from the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria (FSGRN) - and the URC only covers FSGRN member states, of which there are around 22, so a significant number of states sit outside it entirely. Betting itself remains legal in Nigeria; it is the paperwork that moved. Some legal uncertainty is still unresolved, including what regularisation means for operators licensed under the old federal regime, so check your own state's regulator before you treat any licence claim as settled.

Nigeria changed who licenses betting in November 2024

On 22 November 2024 the Supreme Court of Nigeria, in Attorney General of Lagos State & Ors v Attorney General of the Federation & Ors (Suit No. SC/1/2008), unanimously nullified the National Lottery Act 2005. A seven-member panel held that the National Assembly had no power to legislate on lotteries and games of chance, so the Act - and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission it created - now applies only within the Federal Capital Territory. Regulating betting elsewhere in Nigeria is exclusively a matter for state governments.

What that means when you read any Nigerian review, including ours: an NLRC licence number no longer establishes, on its own, that an operator is authorised in your state. Many of our Nigerian pages still describe licensing in NLRC terms because that was the framework when they were written, and we are working through them. Check your own state regulator's list - for example the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority - before you deposit.

Our verdict

Betjara is a Nigerian sportsbook and casino launched in 2023, operated by Jara Investment Technologies Ltd as part of the Avid Lionz Group. Its licensing is reported in real detail - specific NLRC sports betting and casino licence numbers plus an LSLGA permit number - by one thorough source, and a second independent source separately confirms the LSLGA registration, though it does not repeat the exact numbers, and we could not check the NLRC's own register directly ourselves. Treat the licensing as reasonably well-documented rather than fully register-verified. The product itself is a genuine strength: 49 sports and more than 1,100 football events for a book only a few years old, a fair welcome bonus (100% up to ₦100,000, 3x rollover, 14 days) alongside a striking 1000% accumulator boost, and a payment set built around what Nigerians actually use - bank transfer, cards and Opay/PalmPay/Flutterwave e-wallets. One inconsistency worth flagging: the same source that reports 1-24 hour withdrawals also mentions 1-5 days elsewhere in its own FAQ, so do not assume the faster figure is guaranteed. There is no iOS app, Android only. Support runs 24/7 across live chat and email. For a Nigerian bettor wanting a newer but seemingly properly structured operator with strong sport coverage, Betjara is a believable pick, with the licence-number detail worth a final independent check if you want full certainty.

How we rated it

Support (10%)7.5

24/7 live chat and email support, plus active social media presence - solid coverage for the size of the operator.

Sportsbook & odds (25%)7

A genuinely broad list - 49 sports and more than 1,100 football events reported, with straight wins, correct scores, goal totals and accumulators alongside a cash-out feature. Solid breadth for a Nigerian operator only launched in 2023.

Bonuses & value (15%)7

100% up to ₦100,000 with a fair 3x rollover on accumulators of 3+ selections at odds 1.40+, valid 14 days - reasonable terms by Nigerian market standards, plus a notable 1000% accumulator boost as a separate ongoing promotion.

Payments & payouts (20%)7

Bank transfer, debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Verve) and e-wallets (Opay, PalmPay, Flutterwave), with instant deposits. Withdrawals are reported at 1-24 hours by one source and a broader 1-5 days in the FAQ of the same source - a real inconsistency worth knowing, so do not assume the fastest figure is guaranteed.

Trust & licensing (20%)7

A named operating company (Jara Investment Technologies Ltd, part of the Avid Lionz Group), specific NLRC sports betting and casino licence numbers, and an LSLGA permit number are all reported by one detailed source, with a second independent source confirming LSLGA registration in general terms. We could not independently verify the exact licence numbers against the NLRC's own register, so this sits a step below our strongest-verified operators.

Mobile & apps (10%)6

An Android app is available, but there is no iOS app - a real gap for iPhone users in the Nigerian market.

How we verified this

The operator name (Jara Investment Technologies Ltd), CEO, and specific NLRC/LSLGA licence numbers come from one detailed source; a second independent source corroborates LSLGA registration and product details but not the specific numbers. We did not find the NLRC's own approved-operator list to independently cross-check the exact licence numbers, so they are reported as sourced rather than register-verified by us directly.
